    • His tombstone reads, "enlisted Aug. 8, 1862, Co. F, 114, Ill. Inf. wounded battle Guntown June 10, 1864 - honorably discharged Aug. 3, 1865." He was appointed Orderly Sergt., Oct. 1, 1863, was wounded in the left ankle, at the battle of Guntown, Miss., June 10, 1864, but escaped capture, served to the end of the rebellion.
