    • He was a book illustrator, draftsman, architectural decorator and garden designer. He was landscape gardener to the Marquess of Bute. He visited Australia between 1853 and 1867 in Victoria, sketching and painting in the gold fields and in Melbourne and surroundings. Some of his work is in the La Trobe Library, Melbourne, Australia.
