    Family 2 Géraude Calsier
    Married Bef 16 May 1575
    • Her marriage was celebrated a short time before May 16th, 1575, the day when her father, a farmer living in Montech, signed the acknowledgement of a dowry for her. On that same day her father made his will, and he died the day after. In her dowry from her father, she received two dresses, a bed, duvet, cushion and sheets ... as well as the sum of one hundred livres tournois, but her father was not able to pay this sum because of "wars". Instead of the silver money he gave six 'razes' three 'coups' and half of land located in the jurisdiction of Montech. Mathieu Latrobe was said to be happy about the land located in the soil called Garonne Morte.

  • Notes
    • Mathieu was the third child of Anthoine Latrobe (Pichot) and Héliette Yzarn. We know that in 1557 he worked as a miller in Monbéqui as did his father, his grandfather and his great-grandfather, and he was married to Mariette Marty (see #40, 1557). Nevertheless according to this information piece, which shows on 29 March 1557 Mariette Marty alone buying a piece of land, we must conclude that the couple was to divorce shortly. Moreover from #66, 1581, which relates to the marriage of his daughter, Lysote, and from #223 (1624), #229 (1626) and #252 (1633), which mention the kinship between the Latrobe descendants of Mariette Marty, who moreover are not mentioned in #116 (1602), we must conclude that, when they divorced, maybe several years later than 1557, Mathieu Latrobe and Mariette Marty already had five children: Lysote, Estienne, Florette, Hugues and Anthoine. As a consequence we can estimate the date of their marriage about 1553. A new document found early 2002 (see #54a) shows that Mathieu Latrobe married Géraude Calsier around 1575.

Now from #66 we learn that in 1581 Mathieu lived at St-Etienne-de-Tescou-lez-Montauban where he worked as master miller. Presumably, after divorcing, he moved from Monbéqui to live there with his second wife, Géraude Calsier (see #116 dated 1602). This is corroborated by a new document found in early 2002 (see #54a dated 1575) showing that Mathieu Latrobe married Géraude Calsier in 1575 in Montech (near St-Etienne-de-Tescou) and then lived there. But from #116, we learn that Mathieu lived again some time in Monbéqui in the 1580's, and then moved to Finhan where, from #99, he lived in 1599. It seems he died a short time before March 1602.
