• Notes

  William Augustine Boykin served as a private in the boys' battalion of the 3rd Virginia Local Defense Forces, surrendering at Petersburg, VA, on his 14th birthday, 9 Apr 1865. He later served with the Norfolk Light Artillery and rose from 2nd lieutenant to colonel of the 5th Regiment, Maryland National Guard, serving as colonel 1890-95.
