  • Notes 
    • Edward Branch Goode was a cadet at Virginia Military Institute, 1858-61, and joined the Confederate Army, 26 Apr 1861. He served as drill-master until being commissioned 2nd lieutenant and assigned as adjutant of Camp Lee. In Oct 1861 he became adjutant of the 56th Virginia Regiment and served until contracting typhoid fever in 1862. He eventually reached home after being reported dead. He then was appointed 1st lieutenant and adjutant of the 34th Virginia Regiment, 14 Oct 1862. He was wounded in the trenches before Petersburg and at Hatcher's Run, and served until surrendering at Appomattox Court House, 9 Jul 1865.
