  • Notes 
    • Norborne Clack Lewis matriculated at Virginia Military Institute, 2 Jan 1864, and served as a cadet private in Company B at the Battle of New Market. He returned to school and was a cadet until Richmond was evacuated. He studied at the Univ. of Virginia, 1865-67, graduated in medicine and later studied at the Univ. of New York. He practiced for a short time in Petersburg with Dr. John Herbert Claiborne.
