Notes |
- Frederick Eareckson enrolled at McDonogh School 15 Aug 1892, the year his mother died. He graduated Class of 1897. [Ref: The Week. McDonogh, MD. Volume XIV From July 4, 1896 to June 26, 1897.]
When 2 portraits were for sale in about 1934 (owned by Wm. Augustine Thompson, youngest brother of Sarah Matilda Thompson), Edgar Frances Burch and FLE, Sr. went to buy the portraits. Each man wanted both portraits. Between them they decided that each would bid on just one portrait, so FLE, Sr. got the one of his grandmother, Mary Eliz. Groome while Edgar got the one of his grandfather, Wm. Smyth Thompson (husband and wife). Dr. Burch's only son, Bill, in 1992 had the portrait in the house on the farm estate.
Katharine says that her father was in the hospital because of a cataract operation. Cataracts were removed from both eyes. He had to stay immobile in bed with eyes covered. He died several days after the operation of a massive stroke which Katharine thinks was caused in part by stress from the cataract operation.
