  • Notes
    • John Baptist Castillion was born Giovanni Battista Castiglione in Italy, of unproved ancestry despite claims of a close relationship to Count Baldassare Castiglione, author of "The Courtier". He was tutor to the future Queen Elizabeth I and was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1555.
On 1 May 1563 John Baptist Castillion received a grant of arms, at which time he was a Gentleman of the Privy Chamber to Queen Elizabeth I. On 13 Jan 1564/65 he and his wife were granted the manors of Benham Valence and Wood Speen, both in the parish of Speen, Berkshire.
The death and burial information were shown on his funeral certificate recorded at The College of Arms.
