- Ferdinand Claiborne Latrobe was admitted to the bar in 1860. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War 1861-1865. Ferdinand Claiborne Latrobe was seven times Mayor of the City of Baltimore. He was repeatedly elected to the Maryland Legislature, serving twice as Speaker of the House of Delegates. He was always a prominent factor in the political affairs of the City and State. There is a statue of Mayor Ferdinand Claiborne Latrobe on Broadway in Baltimore near Johns Hopkins Hospital. On the 1870 census he is listed as living with his father-in-law Thomas Swann. However, his son Thomas is not listed.
