- Gen. Robert Breckinridge was among the earliest recorded pupil of Augusta or Liberty Hall Academy and is numbered 5 on the Catalogue. He was a lieutenant in the Continental Army, and was made general of militia after the war. He represented Botetourt Co. in the Virginia Legislature. Subsequently, he moved to Kentucky, was a member of the Convention of 1788 that ratified the Federal Constitution, and there was also a member of the Legislature and of the State Convention. He was the first speaker of the Kentucky House of Delegates.
