Notes |
- Samuel was born at "Medical Hill" and graduated at Philadelphia. In 1793 he was confirmed at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Church Hill, by Bishop Clagett, the first Episcopal Bishop of Maryland. He was one of the founders of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland (1799, now called MedChi). He was known for inoculating people for smallpox at his house, "Medical Hill."
